Fantastic Four #5

Doctor Doom gets a brief cameo in this issue. Which is apparently also the 650th, but at least they've just written that on the cover rather than renumbering yet again this soon. It also includes a rather nice understated tribute to Stan Lee in the form of black end pages and a sketch by Phil Noto, plus a reprinted Stan's Soapbox in the back.

It seems Marvel is conducting a campaign this month to bankrupt me with expensive but good-quality Doom appearances. This issue was apparently supposed to come out last week, so it actually takes place before Agent of Asgard #6, but there's some good stuff in here even with the outcome somewhat spoiled by reading that first.

The conclusion to the story...

And that's that. Have to confess I'm very much looking forward to next month's relaunch; this storyline definitely ended better than the draggy way it started, but still, this really has not been one of my favourite F4 runs.
