Avengers: Children's Crusade #8 review
Dec. 30th, 2011 12:59 am![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
At long last, this series returns! I've been waiting for this one for months.
( Spoilers )
I'm hoping Doom's going to be back for the final issue, but even if he's not, I think this makes for a pretty fitting end to his part in the series, and I just hope other writers are going to follow up on it in future.

CBR has the lettered preview for Avengers: Children's Crusade #8. Looks like Doom and Wanda are both reacting to developments exactly as you'd expect, and oh, I cannot see this ending well... (And I can't wait.)
The FF #13 preview is also out, though Doom doesn't get any lines in that one.

Children's Crusade Q&A and preview art
Dec. 7th, 2011 12:22 am![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
Marvel.com has a Q&A with Allan Heinberg about Children's Crusade, including some mildly spoilerly comments about Doom and new preview art showing him in action. Looks pretty awesome.
Issue #8 is now scheduled for December 28th (and fingers crossed, might actually arrive this time, since it seems likely the previous delays could have been to do with setup for next year's X-Men versus Avengers event that Marvel just announced).

Marvel.com has just added Avengers: Children's Crusade #2 to their collection of free-to-read digital comics. (Just click the "Read it Online" button - you need to have Flash player installed.) They have issue #1 up as well, but you need a paid subscription to read more than the first five pages.
I plan to do a post collecting links to all the Doom stuff they've got up on Marvel digital at some stage. There's some surprisingly obscure stuff included, and with the number of comics they've got archived there, it's definitely a great deal if you're catching up on a character like Doom who's spent fifty years popping up in all kinds of random corners of the universe.

Avengers: Children's Crusade #7 Review

I knew this issue was going to be awesome ever since I saw that cover of Doom and Wanda together, but even so, it managed to totally exceed my expectations. A very, very great issue for Doom fans.
( Spoilers )
Well worth the extended wait in every way - fantastic issue. Let's just hope the next one makes it out on time and doesn't get delayed; two months is a cruel enough time to have to wait it is.

CBR has an exclusive of a page of Cheung's pencils from Avengers: Children's Crusade #7, and all I can say is !!!!!!!!
Can't wait, can't wait, seriously, August 31st?

So, no Doom in this issue. I wasn't really expecting him to have much role with all that's going on, but given that the cover for issue #7 makes it pretty clear he's coming back, I was kind of hoping we'd get another dramatic last page reveal. Guess we'll have to wait till August to find out what that awesome cover image is all about.
In the meantime, plenty of interesting stuff is going on with Wanda.

Thought I'd check Newsarama since the FF preview was up, and yep, the lettered preview for Avengers: Children's Crusade #6 is up too. No Doom in the preview pages, but he does get a mention. Really looking forward to this one, too.

This miniseries is one of the main reasons I ended up founding this comm, since it's getting a lot of well-deserved love all over the place, but everyone else is talking about the Young Avengers or the fallout from House of M, and I just want to talk about Doom all the time. :)
( Spoilers up to Avengers: Children's Crusade #5 )
This whole thing feels like a really old-school take on Doom - in a good way. And Cheung's art is fantastic. The worst thing about this comic is that it only comes out every other month. Is it June yet?
