Fans of Marvel's Doctor Doom

The final part of this five issue arc, and it goes out with the same high standards it came in.

Overall, I would definitely recommend these issues to all fans of Doom. Ed Brubaker has a brilliant grasp of Doom's character (no surprise, after Books of Doom) and the art is very nice too. Quality stuff.

Ah, this is more like it; the Doom storyline's finally getting going after all two setup-heavy intro issues, and this time we get a more substantial appearance.

CBR has Marvel's May solicits. Alas, looks like Winter Soldier #5 is the only place we might see Doctor Doom, and that's apparently the last part of this storyline.

I haven't laid my hands on a copy of Fantastic Four: Season One yet, but I'm told that Doom's part in that is actually only a one-page cameo. Sigh. Hopefully they'll do a Season Two...

So I picked up the first issue of the new Winter Soldier series. Doom only has a tiny cameo, but it's an important one, setting up bigger things for the next few issues, and it's an excellent comic regardless. I haven't really read much of the previous Winter Soldier stuff, but it's pretty new-reader friendly to my eyes; there's a bit of exposition on Bucky's background dropped in, but it's mostly all stuff I'd picked up by fandom osmosis anyway.

All in all, too soon to rate this as a Doom appearance yet, but the signs look good, and as the first issue of a great-looking new espionage comic, I recommend it.
